In the early 20th century, pitbulls were extremely beloved. They were American mascots and largely associated with children, which means that they were far from being considered aggressive. If current news reports are to be believed, pitbulls have been attacking and biting humans left and right. Surprisingly, these dogs used to be America’s darlings. The numerous renowned pitbulls that have made history stand to prove that. Here are some of the most famous and heroic pitbulls throughout history.

Bud

Source

In 1903, Horatio Jackson and his assistant Sewall Crocker became the first people to cross the United States in a car, a Winston Vermont automobile to be precise. Accompanying them was Jackson’s pitbull, Bud, who obviously because the first dog to cross the US. The specially-made driving goggles that Bud wore during the trip reside in Smithsonian today.

Willie

Source

Named after William the Conqueror by his master, General George S. Patton, Willie is another famous pitbull. His owner was an avid pitbull lover who took his companion everywhere. Willie even had his own set of dog tags. The famously gruff commander was so enamored of the dog, he even thew him a birthday party! Willie is memorialized standing next to his master in a bronze statue at the General Patton Memorial Museum outside of Indio, California.

Tige

Source

Even though he was not a real dog, Tige was one of the most famous fictional pitbulls at the turn of the century. As featured in Richard Felton Outcault’s comic strip and later in renowned advertisements for the Brown Shoe company, Tige “lived” in a time when pitbulls were regarded as caretaker “nanny” dogs rather than rough guard dogs. Tige is also notable for being the first talking pet in comic strips.

Sergeant Stubby

Source

Stubby was the most decorated dog of World War I. He was adopted by Private J. Robert Conroy and became the mascot of the 102nd Infantry, Yankee Division. The pitbull learned a lot about military life, including bugle calls and how to execute a salute with his paw. Stubby was smuggled to France when his owner shipped out and allowed to stay when the commanding officer saw him salute.

Petey

Source

Pete the Pup, the son of Pal the Wonder Dog, took over the role of Petey, the canine mascot of the Our Gang/Little Rascals shorts after his father was poisoned in 1930. He appeared in many of the best-remembered shorts, but he was replaced with a series of younger dogs starting 1932. The famous trademark ring around his eye was makeup to match his dad’s natural marking.

These are some of the most famous pitbulls in history. All owners talked about them affectionately and kept them by their side at all times. Another example of a famous pitbull owner is Helen Keller, an inspirational writer and speaker who was blind and deaf since the age of 19 months. She became one of the most admired figures in the 20th century and was an avid animal lover, having many canine companions throughout her long life – including her beloved pitbull, Sir Thomas. Clearly, pitbulls were so beloved in the past!

Blue pitbulls are beautiful pets that seem to be preferred by numerous people nowadays. However, there are still many myths associated to these dogs. One of the most frequent such myths is that blue pitbulls are rare. Even though finding such an animal may seem quite hard, you should know that blue pitbulls are not that difficult to purchase. In fact, in the past few years the popularity of these dogs has made their numbers grow. So, while more people showed an interest in purchasing blue pitbulls, more individuals breed their pets to make some extra money.

So, the first and most common myth on blue pitbulls is that they are rare. Well, the reality is that blue pitbulls are not as rare as one may imagine. Still, blue pitbulls are great dogs that anyone could own. However, you should know that there are many other myths associated with this breed, as after all even though they are blue, they are still pitbulls. Below you can read more myths associated to pitbulls in general.

Source

1. Pitbulls have locking jaws, meaning that once they bite they can’t let go, even if they want to.

Naturally, this is just a myth. Pitbulls are not much different from other dogs when it comes to this aspect. In fact, there is no dog known to possess such an ability. Locking jaws do not exist, no matter what people may think of pitbulls.

2. Pitbulls have a unique bite style. This makes them the most feared breed of dogs that are known to exist.

This is another myth associated to pitbulls in general. Biting, holding and shaking is not something unique to pitbulls. All dogs will have the same tendency. A dog can be taught to bite hard. Still, most such animals, regardless of their species enjoy grabbing, pulling and shaking when biting even toys for play. This can easily be described as a natural behavior for dogs, who just enjoy it.

3. Pitbulls are more likely to kill people than any other breed of dogs.

Another common myth regarding this breed of dogs is that they are genetically driven to kill people. Naturally, this is also a simple myth, with no sense of reality. Dog behavior can be influenced by both genetics and education or environment. This means that your pet will be as you teach it to be. There is no dog breed that has in its nature attacking people, so you should not worry that your pitbull or blue pitbull will develop such a behavior, too. Dogs raised as family pets will be kind and cute.

4. Pitbulls are extremely aggressive.

Pitbulls, or blue pitbulls, do not tend to be more aggressive than other types of dogs. As already mentioned, their behavior is much influenced by their education. This means that families can raise pitbulls to be extremely loving and caring pets. Even though pitbulls can tend to be aggressive towards other animals, you should know that this is a common behavior for most dog species.

5. Pitbulls cannot be trained or controlled.

Pitbulls are not that much different from other breeds of dogs. They are trainable, controllable and intelligent animals, just like all other dogs. Pitbulls can be taught to be friendly and obedient. They are not unpredictable and you should not worry that they can attack at any time, even their owners.

Source

There are many other myths associated to pitbulls in general, consequently to blue pitbulls, too. The fact that they do not fell pain, that they are only good for fighting or that they go crazy as their brains swell are just some of the most common such myths. Well, the only thing you should know is that blue pitbulls are very beautiful and charming pets to keep in your home. You should not worry at all about their behavior, at least if you educate your pet to be a loving, caring family dog.

Pitbulls are great dogs, but the term “pit bull” is used referring to several breeds, including the American Staffordshire terrier and the Staffordshire bull terrier, recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), and the American pit bull terrier, recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC).

Source

Even the term “blue nose” is found on many Internet listings, these dogs are not bred by colour. It means there are only pitbulls of various colours, quality and markings.

Source

Dogs called blue pitbuuls have a recessive dillution gene that turns their coat into a beautiful color. But these dogs are born this way, they don’t grow into their colour. Their eyes are rather light, but not always blue.

Source

Blue pitbulls’ head is one of the most defining features of the breed. It should be large, strong but still not disproportionate to their body. Their ears can eb or not cropped, and if they’re cropped, it should be in a short manner.

These dogs are usually big, weighing approximately 70 pounds. Additionally, pitbulls have a muscular body, a lot of energy, are playful, speed are agile and have a great physical power.

Source

Nonetheless, temperament is the most important feature of pit bulls. They are courageous, loyal, friendly and people-oriented. Unfortunately, in the recent years, this breed has been linked to dog fighting and violence, so its reputation has been affected. In some areas, it’s illegal to be the owner of a pitbull. Let’s hope that in the near future, their reputation will be improved.

These dogs have a violent past because they were trained to participate in dog fight. But if they’re raised properly, pitbulls are affectionate and great dogs, devoted to their owner.

Source

What does it mean to raise a pitbull properly? Read the following instructions and you’ll find out:

when you adopt a puppy blue pitbull, take it to the vet within 24 up to 72 hours as these dogs are susceptible to demodex and parvo;

neuter or spray the puppy as long as the vet allows you to; it will protect the puppy from the health disorders;

positive exposure to various situations, people, animals and places is great for your puppy as he will become more protective of the family;

train your pitbull and enroll it in puppy kindergarten classes;

exercising every day is very important as pitbulls are active dogs and they like to play a lot;

Source

Starting weight pulling or other sports should be started only when the vet allows you. Your dog should be too fragile and it can have problems if you’ll start this sooner. Keep in mind that your dog should play with gentle dogs. Additionally, if you’ll apply all the above ideas, be sure that your puppy will grow healthy and will be smart.

Additionally, a healthy diet will prevent many issues from happening, including joint disorders. There are several types of food, so discuss with the vet which of them is the best for your dog:

1. The most common type of food is dry dog food. Its price is affordable and this food is available in many places.

Source

2. Semi-moist food is another type, but it’s not so healthy because it contains additional sugars.

3. Canned food is the most expensive dog food, but it’s also the healthiest and one of the most appealing to blue pitbulls.

4. Many blue pitbulls owners feed them with a mixture of all these types of food, but also with healthy table scraps, biscuits and treats.

Source

5. Raw food is another healthy option for blue pitbulls. Such a diet includes raw eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, vegetables, fruits, uncooked bones and meat, but also cooked cereals and various supplements. Blue pitbulls that are on this diet, should not eat the same things every day. Their owners should try various types and quantities of raw food to see which of them works best for them. Nonetheless, many vets don’t approve this diet because the food can contain bacteria.

Source

6. Free feeding is also a good idea. It means putting food in a bowl so that the dog can eat whenever it needs. The best thing is to set a schedule when to put food out to feed the dogs.

As a general rule, a blue pitbull should be fed two or five times a day in smaller amounts of food. This method controls its weight. Additionally, these dogs shouldn’t eat for 30 minutes after a walk.

Source

The body of a healthy blue pitbull should look as an hourglass seen from the side or the top. The ideal weight of a blue pitbull is between 35-60 pounds and its ribs should be easy to feel through its first layer of muscles. A healthy blue pitbull should look lean and don’t forget to go the vet to ensure that your dog is healthy or to discuss necessary changes to its diet.

Blue pit bulls are great dogs. If you also want to have one, you should know a few things about them. There are details that will help you get a healthy and great dog. One of the first things you have to know is that blue pitbulls are a specific type of the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Source

Additionally, there are various lines and types that make up the pit bull breed. Nonetheless, blue nose is an element that confuses many people that believe it’s a different breed. There are breeders who emphasize the idea that these dogs are very rare, when actually they are pretty common.
Instructions
Thus, colours are very important. To find various breeds of blue pitbulls and their colors, follow these instructions:

1. Access a pit bull website to find details about pit bull breed colours and types. Keep in mind that blue nose pit bulls can have any colours. However, usually they are silver, black or dark blue.

2. Access the American Kennel Club’s website and you’ll find similar information.

Source

3. Another great idea is to visit your local library and bookstore. You’ll find many books written for pit bulls owners and lovers. These books provide essential information on many things, including colours and breed tips.

4. Pay a visit to the breeder’s kennel before purchasing a blue nose pit bull. There are puppy mill dogs that are more susceptible to diseases and other problems because of inbreeding.

Source

5. Make sure that you find reputable breeders if you want to buy a healthy and nice blue nose pitbull. There are many online adds, as well, so look for them.

6. Contact a local SPCA, the Humane Society or a pit bull rescue group. As blue pitbulls have a negative reputation, there are many of them across the nation, so you can adopt one.

Source

No matter how much you would like to be the owner of a blue pitbull, don’t adopt one if you don’t have enough time and patience. You would only torture the dog, which may also become aggressive, but it will be your fault. If a blue pitbull is raised properly, it will be a wonderful, loyal and lovely companion. These animals are called nanny dogs as they have a wonderful connection with children. Therefore, these dogs need your affection and time. Training is also important, but as these creatures are very smart, they will learn to do a lot of things very fast and easy. You’ll adore your dog and the connection between you two will be amazing.

Blue pitbulls are some of the most beautiful and smartest dogs in the world. Numerous people adore them, so there is no wonder that blue pitbulls are such common pets. Dogs, regardless of the breed, are in constant state of learning, even if their owners sometimes do not notice it.

Raising a blue pitbull is not the hardest job in the world. However, you will have to take care of your pet, so make sure that you have enough time to dedicate to its training process. There are several tips you need to consider in order to make raising your pet much simpler right since the moment of adopting the puppy.

Source

1. Take your puppy to the vet

Taking your puppy to the veterinarian within the first 24 to 72 hours after the adoption is crucial. Pitbulls in general, and mostly blue pitbulls, are susceptible to develop diseases such a parvo and demodex.

Parvo actually is a very common disease among pitbull puppies. You need to be very careful, as numerous puppies who contact parvo die. This is why taking the puppy to the vet is so important, as the disease can be prevented through proper vaccination.

Demodex is a type of mange mostly caused by the overgrowth of mites, which are actually found on the skin of all dogs. This is not a contagious disease, but in extreme cases it can cause death. If left untreated the disease will lead to severe problems.

Ask the advice of a vet on which vaccines should be administered during your puppy’s first month of life. Blue pitbulls are believed to be at a higher risk of developing several conditions.

Source

2. Spay or neuter your puppy as early as possible

Ask the vet when is the right time to spay your puppy. This is very important for the pup’s health. Actually, spaying eliminates the chances of developing hormonally-triggered cancers. It is very important to know that the longer you wait, the higher will be the chances of affecting the pup’s health.

Source

3. Socialize your blue pitbull well

Socializing your blue pitbull is more important than what you may initially imagine. Positive exposure to different situations such places, animals and noises will help your puppy remain calm. Isolating your blue pitbull puppy is not a good idea. This will make it more protective to the house or the family and consequently, unfriendlier. If you socialize your dog in the right manner, it will never be scared of other animals and naturally will never tend to attack.

Source

4. Enroll your puppy in training classes

If you haven’t got the time or the patience to train the puppy yourself, it would be better to enroll it to training classes. Teach him good manners and be sure that your dog is well-behaved and under control at all times. Don’t make the puppy feel like being in a prison, but be sure that it is comfortable enough.

Source

5. Exercise your blue pitbull everyday

For dogs, exercise is really important. Your dog has to exercise even on rain, snow or hail. Leash-walking, running and playing are equally important. Pitbulls that are socialized with other dogs from an early age can even play in small groups.

Source

Try to find games as interesting as you can for your puppy. Teach the dog how to play with other animals and to people, as well. Take the puppy to the vet as often as it needs. Make sure that the dog is healthy and happy.

Blue pitbulls are muscular and stocky dogs, with short ears that can stand straight and fold over. They weight between 55 and 70 pounds. These animals have a violent past, which revolved around dog fighting, a horrible sport.

Thus, blue pit bulls have a negative reputation, being perceived as dangerous, unpredictable and aggressive dogs. They can be genetically predisposed to aggression, but in recent years, breeders have managed to select dogs away from this negative trait.

Source

It’s true that they don’t give so many warning signs before attacking or becoming aggressive, but compared to other breeds, they tend to become aggressive only when they’re provoked.

Tolerance, Intelligence And Affection

Even in the past, when dog fighting was a popular sport, blue pit bulls were bred to be tolerant of their owners and friendly with humans. Today, it’s hard to believe for many people that blue pit bulls can be affectionate, friendly and loyal. Nevertheless, if they have been well socialised, these dogs can accept even strangers and they are great pets for families with children.

Source

A Wonderful Relationship With Kids

It may seem impossible, but they’re patient with kids, being able to face rough treatment from them. These dogs were once known as “nursemaids dogs” because they are very affectionate with kids and able to accept them very easily.

Source

Intelligence And Training

Pit bulls are sometimes stubborn, but they’re very intelligent and can be trained very easily by positive reinforcement methods. As they adore attention, praising will encourage them. Thus, they will learn very fast new rules, tricks and will obey commands. Avoid negative reinforcement and punishment because these could lead to an aggressive behaviour. A blue pit bull can learn a lot of things, ranging from obedience commands to amazing and advanced tricks to canine sport training.

Source

Energy

These dogs are ideal for active owners as they have a lot of energy and need daily exercise, walks or training. If their owner doesn’t do that daily, these dogs will get bored very fast and will start to dig, chew, pace or bark. Therefore, boredom is one of the causes of aggression, frustration, irritating or destructive habits. A good trick is to give them toys and bones for their extra energy.

Source

Usually, blue pit bulls should benefit from two daily walks of at least 30 minutes each, as well as playing in the yard, daily training sessions, swimming, hiking, jogging, but also participation in canine sports. All these activities will keep blue pit bulls healthy, happy and will build a wonderful relationship between them and their owners.

Blue pitbulls are beautiful dogs that many people love. Having such a pet surely is a great idea. However, knowing how to take care of your pet is a must. Pitbulls in general are more likely to develop some skin problems that are not so common to other dogs. Such problems include rashes, hives and persistent itching. Blue pitbulls are known to have even more serious skin issues, developing an increased tendency to skin diseases.

Source

Blue pitbulls have reported to develop more skin problems than any other dog breed. However, it seems that there is no certain cause to explain this fact, even though some specialists claim that the pigment in the skin is the one to blame. Below you can find a list of some of the most frequently diagnosed skin diseases in blue pitbulls.

1. Seasonal allergies

Seasonal allergies are the most common types of skin problems that blue pitbulls are diagnosed with. These allergies cause the dogs to scratch themselves, sometimes even till harming their skin and developing complications such as severe skin infections. If left untreated, these allergies can lead to really serious conditions.

Allergies can be associated with either common airborne allergens and annual changes in skin growth. Reasons why seasonal allergies are so frequent among blue pitbulls are not known yet.

Source

2. Dry skin

Pitbulls also have the tendency to develop dry skin. Due to extreme dry skin, blue pitbulls can develop areas on the skin that become inflamed and consequently very itchy. If left untreated, the dog will scratch those areas until deeply harming themselves. Due to excessive scratching skin can be removed entirely. This way, infections are very likely to be formed, as well as other health problems.

3. Increased skin sensitivity

Most blue pitbulls have an increased skin sensitivity. When skin is very sensitive, the dog can easily develop negative reactions to insect bites, but also chemicals. Numerous dog soaps or shampoos include chemicals that can irritate the skin of a blue pitbull. The type of chemicals which irritate the dog’s skin may vary from one case to another.

Source

Blue pitbulls are more likely to develop skin problems than any other kind of dogs. This is why owners of such dogs are advised to apply special skin creams on the dog’s skin for regular prevention and treatment. However, before applying a type of product on the dog’s skin, it should be tested on a small area. This is the only way you can be sure that your pet is not allergic to it.
